Notice of Application to Volunteer as a Scrutineer for Assent Voting (Referendum

PUBLIC NOTICE IS HEREBY given that on Saturday, October 28, 2017, qualified electors within the City of Prince George will be voting on the following two (2) questions:

  • "Are you in favour of the City of Prince George adopting "Four Seasons Leisure Pool Replacement Loan Authorization Bylaw No. 8888, 2017" which will authorize Council to borrow a sum not exceeding thirty five million dollars ($35,000,000), repayable over a period of no more than twenty (20) years, for the development and construction of a new pool building to replace the Four Seasons Leisure Pool?" 
  • "Are you in favour of the City of Prince George adopting "Fire Hall #1 Replacement Loan Authorization Bylaw No. 8889, 2017" which will authorize Council to borrow a sum not exceeding fifteen million dollars ($15,000,000), repayable over a period of no more than twenty (20) years, for the development and construction of a new fire hall building to replace Fire Hall #1?"

Scrutineers for and against the questions must be appointed if applications are received from persons who wish to volunteer for these positions. Only persons entitled to vote as electors on the questions shown above are entitled to act as scrutineers. If sufficient applications are received, one (1) scrutineer for and one (1) scrutineer against each of the questions will be appointed for each voting place. One (1) scrutineer for each of the questions and one (1) scrutineer against each of the questions will also be appointed to be present at the determination of the official results and, if necessary, at a judicial recount.

Applications to act as a scrutineer will be received by the Chief Election Officer on September 25, 26, 27, 28, 29, October 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6, 2017 during the hours of 8:30 am to 5:00 pm at the office located below, by email at cityclerk@princegeorge.ca or by fax to 250.561.0183.

Application forms are available in the Legislative Services Division, Prince George City Hall and on the City's website www.princegeorge.ca/referendum. Please note that in order to apply for this position, you will be required to provide: your full name, the address you wish notices sent to, your contact telephone number, and whether you wish to be present at the final determination of the voting, and whether you are in FAVOUR of a question or OPPOSED to a question.
